For some reason I have always slept in the left hand bed in my Safari, and wished for a few more inches leg room.
Yesterday I took both seat cushions out of the caravan, and when I put them back, I had them on the wrong side.
I discovered that the right hand bed is three inches longer than the left, and when looking again it seems ridiculous that I hadn't noticed before. I will change my sleeping habits, but will have to remember not to roll over to the left!

I have likewise always slept in the left hand bed, and wished for a few inches more, although if the difference applies to my model it is in one respect perhaps just as well that I chose the left hand side. Although, being single, I am on my own more often than not, for many years when I have had the rare luxury of a companion the most usual one has been my godson - and his 6' 4" rather dwarfs my 5' 10" or so.
However holidays with him are now fairly rare, because he now has a wife and a (very) young family of his own, and after several years learning his profession in an employee capacity he is now also heavily committed in building up his own fairly new business, from scratch.
I think that this feature applies to only the smaller vans; I am moderately sure that when the seat cushions started to lose their resilience I exchanged side cushions between the two sides of the '78 17/2, but I cannot absolutely vouch for it.
If the feature applies to my vans I have only myself to blame if I have never exploited it; I am now rerminded that my late Father used to say that (at least some models of) Safaris were built with a "his and hers" layout of beds - and of course they as a couple and as purchasers from new would have been told about it at the time of purchase and would have then applied the information. They started with a '74 12/2, then graduated to an '82 14/2, and after a disastrous interlude with brand new ('89) Abbey (GT 215?) went back in 1981 to a 10-year-old '81 14/2 Safari. All except the 12/2 were bought from Pearman Briggs in Gloucester.
By contrast I bought my own first Safari (again from Pearman Briggs) in January 1991, secondhand, and as an established customer whom they already knew well - and who they knew knew had known the marque for many years - perhaps no-one had thought to tell me, maybe assuming that "of course" I already knew. And, being single, I myself had completely overlooked it.
I think it may apply to only the smaller models, but I must now check mine !!
