Hiya. I am trying to establish which chassis my Safari would have so that I can try to source some handbrake return springs. It is a 15/4 serial number - 75015. I have had a look at the chassis but can't see a chassis number anywhere. Any idea where I might find the chassis number? Also, assuming the caravan is 1970/1/2/3..ish, can you tell which chassis it might have?

Hi Squibbles and a warm welcome to the group.
Your Safari is 1975 - although as it was the 15th made in that model year it was almost certainly built between October and December 1974. The new model years ran from October each year.
All Safaris at that time used the B&B chassis and suspension system. When you say brake springs - do you mean the small ones inside the brake drums or the long ones that run on the axle under the caravan?

The springs I am referring to are the ones which run along the axle & attach to the back-plates. All seems fine inside the drums although the pads are binding even when adjusted fully in. I'm hoping that the addition of these springs is going to miraculously make everything else fall into place. I've also started to read through old posts & am picking up info there which is helping. Is there a manual for the braking system? It is referred to in some of the posts but I'm not sure where to find it.

Squibble Attached is the B&B chassis and brake handbook. If you have problems opening the file let me know and I'll send it by email. I have the springs in my stocks of spares, but would like to check they are in good condition before quoting a price.
