Reluctantly selling my husband's Classic Safari 17.2. Model number 80013.
This was to be his home office project/ man cave and it was bought 12 months ago with great excitement and plans for the future, however, it is now having to be sold due to his ill health.
This has been dry stored for the last 12 months so the van is 100% dry. Taken out today for some fresh pictures in the beautiful sunshine.
For those who dont know, this is the 17.2 which means its the biggest (longest) Classic Safari model made, and it was laid out as a 2 birth.
There is a seating area at the front end, which converts to a double bed, dining area, large wardrobe space opposite, and at the end a bathroom with toilet and sink and an L-shaped kitchen.
Over the years this has went from caravan to playroom, to project as it now stands.
The kitchen is intact with original fridge and stainless cooker & sink, with low and wall mounted units - nothing is tested as it has been unused.
The bathroom toilet & sink has been removed but the original vanity cabinet with mirror is in place
The wardrobe was removed and in its place someone has installed a hearth of sorts and the roof has been cut through to allow for a flue to be fitted for a solid fuel stove. This is perfect for the van and could keep you toasty all year around, regardless of its use. The roof has been capped here and tapped in place until you decide to use it.
The wall cabinets are all in place as are the seat frame, which lift up for extra storage. However none of the soft furnishing remain. This was a good thing to be honest because after 35 years they would be all due an upgrade anyway!
Electrics are untested and there is a solar panel on the roof which I assume was a later addition.
Bodywork is fair/average. Again its 35 years old and to be expected. Nothing that cannot be repaired as part of a project though.
No interior pictures due to the battery going flat so we intend to add those in the next couple of days.
There have been two areas of damp in the van, one around the bottom of the main front window and one to the rear at the kitchen. It has been dry for 12 months now and both of these areas are isolated and could be easily repaired.
This was towed 100 miles to us last year and the tyres have not lost any air during their time in storage. I see no reason why this couldnt be hooked up with a light board on the back and driven to your home.
Lots of original features still remain on this beautiful safari and everybody who sees it has good things to say about how unique it looks with the roof lights. In its day this was the rolls-royce of caravans and having seen a price list online recently, you wouldnt have had much change out of £8000 for this in 1980!
We would like a fraction of that today and its worth every penny. If it doesnt sell for the right price it can remain in dry storage, however, it would be unfair to my husband to be constantly reminded of his failed project so it is up for sale today and looking for a new loving home.
The van is based in Scotter, North Lincolnshire, Dn21 area.
Viewing is very welcome with 24 hours notice.
If you wish to have the van transported to you I will happily work with your delivery company on times and payment in that instance can be via BACS bank transfer. Shiply is an excellent choice if you require a quotation for delivery.
This is a cash sale of a privately owned item.
Any questions please ask and I will do my best to answer them.
