Can anyone tell me when exactly did tow ball standard size in the uk change from 2" to 50mm??

And did the rest of the measurements on safaris change at the same time from imperial to metric for example nuts and bolts wheel studs etc

Towards the end of the 50's so research tells me but there is no specific year, a 1955 has the older tow ball but then theres a 1954 that doesnt....

Gary - Are you sure you are finding metric bolts on Safaris? Odd comments in the manuals from the late seventies imply that AF bolts are still being used. I'll check in the morning, but I think I use AF for my wheel nuts!

I checked today Brian there all imperial
it was just a little bit of curiosity about the tow balls mainly
I find it funny that the metric system has being in our country since ww2 and there are still people who refuse to use it specially in classic car scene
