hello Safari friends.
as some of you now I own one of the two Safari 12/2 caravans which are in the Netherlands.
I have good news and very bad news.
I had trouble with my cooker. The problems started with orange flames which got more orange over the past years.
Last month I noticed flames on places where they should not be.
It appeard that the burners were completely damaged by rust.
I tried to find replacement burners but I did not expect to be successfull in a short time.
So this is how I solved the problem.
I dimanteled one burner completely into sepeate parts .
Investigated all the seperate parts and selected the parts which were still ok to be re-used.
I made drawings of all the damaged parts and machined them out off solid stainless steel 90 mm material, assembled one burner, tested it and carried out some optimalisations.
I have now two beautifull perfect burners which give a deep blue clean flame.
It was absolutely not a simple job but the result is fabulous.
I am better with iron than computers that is why I have not put pictures on the forum. If someone is interested in seeing the result ,let me know.
Now the bad news. I had some help in getting the Safary registrated for road use in the Netherlands (thanks Brian and Graeme).
I still had to show it for the last time to the authorities on last thuesday. What happend on the way to them......... I had an accident and smashed the right front corner!!!!seriously.
I started dismantelling the front yesterday evening and now I am even more impressed, What a construction and what an enormous amount of screws.
I now have perfect burners and full registration but fot the time being no caravan to use.
