Hi there,
I have just joined this group. I live in The New Forest, Hampshire and have been rescuing a Safari 14/2 from dereliction. I have rebuilt the front end and front roof section and lined with new plywood. I have just finished papering with new vinyl which I have painted with a 'Fired Earth' Emulsion in a near match.
All the upholstery is in good condition apart from a little fading. I'm not sure where the serial number of the caravan is but there is a no etched into the door window with a little box around it. The no is: 79213. I would be interested to know if this right?
I do not currently have a towing vehicle and am looking for a tax exempt Landrover Safari short wheelbase with a diesel engine. My budget is very restricted but I can wait until I can afford the right one.
Would love to hear from anyone near The New Forest (or indeed anywhere) to discuss some restoration points. I'll put a post up in the restoration section about cookers.
Thanks for a great site.

Peter - welcome to the group. Glad to hear of a Safari being rescued and restored. I would need to see a photo or two to confirm if your serial number is correct for your Safari, as windows can be replaced. Also if you took photos of your restoration work, I am sure they would interest other owners. The rebuild of the front of mine is shown in this album: rides.webshots.com/album/550745591apQZvXI hope other members can provide an answer to your question reagrding the hob burners. I have not had to replace mine, but a few years ago they seemed to be a bit blocked and so when they were hot I used a bit of wire to poke into the holes and blew them out with compressed air. I seems to have done the trick and now I have good flames on both.
