From: jappy Sent: 17/05/2005 09:18 we have a safari cosalt recently " rescued" from a dealer for the princely cost of £65. It has a identification plate reading Safari Cosalt, model 17.2, serial no., 80012. Can anyone give us any information as to age and specs. It has a very damp shower room and rot round front window, otherwise in pretty good nick though the wiring has been bodged and a wiring diagram would be helpful. hope someone can help. Also have a 1984 Safari said to have been made for Caravan Show. Jappy

From: OliverShaw1 Sent: 17/05/2005 16:21 It was built in 1980 (the first two digits of the serial number give that information), and is the 12th one built that year - 10 later than my own 17/2 (Serial No. 80002).
That apart, you have asked for some technical information, and I am replying to that by starting a separate message string on the Technical & Restoration board. I feel that that part of the reply is more appropriate there.
Incidentally the manufacturer's own designation for Safaris of this period was always to use an oblique to separate the two numbers, not a dot or a dash. Thus 12/2, 14/2, 15/4, 17/2, etc., etc., not 12.2 or 12-2 etc.
Regards,
Oliver
