From: Brian (Original Message) Sent: 10/07/2006 19:25 While at Wicksteed a visitor to my Safari thought he could smell gas, and as he is a Carver (the gas heater manufacturer) agent he checked out my heater which I have never used and reckoned it was very sound but should have the metal gas pipes under the floor replaced. He returned later with a pressure tester and ran through my whole system finding a slight leak from a joint on my water heater. Whoever installed it had used a white plastic type of washer that should be replaced with one that is LPG proof. He did comment that the gas rubber pipe from the bottle to the copper piping MUST be replaced every two or three years as the black rubber becomes porous after that time, all the pipes have the date printed on them, mine was 2003 - replaced when I got the Safari - and therefore due for replacement. He recommended renewing with the new orange piping that has a slightly longer life but still needs replacing regularly. Worth looking at. Brian Miller
