Good morning all. My name is Chris, despite the Discohybrid handle! I recently bought a 1981 Cosalt safari, from a guy at work, there are some images on facebook, which I will post as soon as I can. The van is a 2 berth (I think a 15/2) and although grubbby and green is in really good roadworthy condition. It has the wrong wheel trims (White plastic), which I hope to replace with the correct stainless/chrome items, also one of the marker lights has turned opaque over time, so that need replacing too.
I really love the classic lines of these vans, and would love to have a period towcar. How do I convince the Missus we need a Series3 Landy?
Cheers, Chris
PS. The price for the van? £50!

Thanks Swampthing, I'm getting a Defender when I leave the mob in a couple of years, convincing my other half that we need a Series3 as well could be a bit tricky! Shes only recently admitted she misses the Discovery.................

Welcome to the group Chris - a bit of a bargain you got there, we need to see pictures after the clean up.
Just show the Missus the photo albums and how good a Safari looks behind a Classic Land rover and she'll soon agree!

Welcome, If a Series III Land Rover is your desire then good choice. There are some good bargains out there (that should please the missus) as they are less popular. I have one which I intend on using to tow a Safari – when I get one! My Land Rover however is a Stage 1 V8 so I may live to regret it with fuel prices at record levels

Hi Margo,
I've always had V8 powered Landys, a 110, then a Rangie, and lastly a very early Disco, you just can't beat that sound, and the wall of torque! My future Defender will have to be a TD5, but if I can convince one of my mates to let me have one of his 3 Stage 1 V8s, I'll be a very happy bunny!
