The front marker lights as fitted to our caravans would appear to deteriorate from exposure to UV light as the perspex covers are usually badly crazed or cracked. Coupled with the fact that the rubber gasket has perished then it is here probably where the water gets into the structure.
I have found a supply of brand new ones although marketed under the Britax name they are the correct identical lights.
The part number is BRITAX 536 and is available from
www.leisureshopdirect.com at £8.00 approx per light assembly plus postage.
I have just fitted a pair on my 12/2, they are so much brighter then the old ones that I may have to fit a dip switch!
In closing I went for a tour of the Cheshire country side yesterday and found a 17/4 and 12/2 all 1979 models--the lantern roof is the give away over the high hedge rows.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike (and everbody)
If you're prone to tours of the Cheshire countryside, have you spotted the Safari ( a 14ft I think) that has appeared in the middle of the Bowdon roundabout (M56/A56/A556 jcnt)? It seems to be some sort of site hut.
And on the subject of Cheshire countryside, don't forget that the Riley RM Club has invited Safari enthusiasts to join them for a chill-out weekend at The Cotton Arms, Wrenbury, next weekend 5-7 May.

Thanks for that Mike just ordered the marker lights and the side indicators.
As I said in another thread these will be fitted in a bed of mastic as it is certainly where a lot of my damp has got in.

Alec,
Yes I did see the SAFARI at Bowden roundabout a couple of weeks ago, I was with Eddie Farrall (13/4) and we had been to Manchester to collect some vintage MG parts. We went round the roundabout several times and reckoned it was a 1979/80 14./2.
Regards next weekend I will be at Cholmondley Castle for the big classic car rally on Sunday, not too far away from you.
Regards
Mike
