THE ONLY FORUM FOR ENTHUSIASTS OF CLASSIC SAFARI CARAVANS MADE BETWEEN 1948 AND 1982.
This group was started in 2003, with the aim of encouraging the preservation and enjoyment of all Safari Caravans made before 1978 and of the classic shape with the drop front side window made until 1982.
We try to assist owners in preservation, restoration, sales and purchase of these excellent Caravans. Membership is open to anyone who owns, has owned, or would like to own a Safari caravan, or is a supplier of products or services directly related to these Caravans.
The world's largest collection of photographs of Safari Caravans is now on the Facebook group.
Hi Ive been offered a Pearman Briggs Safari caravan for free as long as i restore it. He currently uses it for banger racing so i have to save it. I havent restored a caravan before so looking for as much help and history and other information as possible. Where i would i find the rating plate? Russ
The rating plate is only a sticker on the outside of the Safari just in front of the main door. If yours is missing it is not a problem as I can identify the model and age from photos.
Posting photos on here is a bit of a pain, as the pic has to be on a photo hosting site first and then the photo address is put in your message.
If you are on Facebook, the Classic Safari Caravans group is easier to post on, and has more activity that this forum, but information on it quickly disappears and has to be searched for.
We will always give advice on restoration and there are lots of resto threads on here.
