We have just inherited a 14.2 safari caravan and it has cork effect walls. it is a 1975 model and in pretty good condition. It is a bit small for us as we have a 10 year old and a 3 year old and wondered whether it was worth selling or keeping and using. any ideas on approx value? it is single glazed but everything inside works. jo xx

Welcome to this select group of Safari Caravan Enthusiasts.
You pose a very difficult question. The value of any Safari seems to be what you can get for it. I have seen scruffy damp ones go for £300, and others in the same condition could not even be given away. Safaris in good order have been sold for £100 to £1000. Other owners have asked for as much as £2000 - but I don't think they have sold at that price!
The problem in your case would be what you could replace it with, unless you put a lot of money into buying a newer caravan. There are Safaris with three and four berths that would be ideal for you and the children, and you might get lucky and find one for the same price you could sell your two berth for.
As a radical solution, you could buy the scruffy one Wayne is selling and put the interior into your 14-2! This would involve a lot of work but you could personalise the interior as you put it in!
Another solution would be a fold up bed inside the Safari for your three year old and your ten year old might find sleeping in the awning, or in a pup tent outside, great fun!
As you see a difficult question - Any other members got any ideas?
We would love to see a picture or two of yours, I don't think your cork walls are original, but as it seems every Safari has some differences I stand to be corrected!
What ever you decide to do - please keep in touch, and if you could let me know your serial number for the register, its usually on a sticker by the door I would be grateful.
Regards

Thanks for the message...i think we're going to try a weekend somewhere to see how it goes and then make a decision on whether to go for a bigger one or not. The serial number is 75204. It was owned by my neighbours for some time before they went for double glazing and has travelled some distance abroad, especially over winters so i know its effective at its jo. i think we just need some time to get acquainted!! thanks again jo xx
