I've finally got my water system working to a reasonable standard but the taps leak badly, I have stripped them & they both have 2 O-rings side by side in a groove just under the plastic knobs is this correct or should it be just 1 wide O-ring. I wont ask my local caravan dealer cos as soon as you tell him how old the caravan is he says things like "Huh you'll never get them not for that age" . Should I just put 2 on each one anyway & try it?

Don't know, because if your taps have plastic knobs they are not original.
Likely reason for non-originality is that they are a more modern replacement, so if you can identify them (perhaps by taking a photo to your local caravan dealer) the dealer may be able to assist you.
The originals were Comet Chrome, which seem to be no longer available, but if you want to replace with a near equivalent Plastimo do a very similar chrome on brass design. Having seen one in my local yacht chandlers, but not having offered it up alongside an original Comet Chrome, I have the impression that it would make a very worthy alternative but that it is fractionally taller in the knob.
Full details in an earlier string; Comet Chrome Taps, posted 12/4/06 on this message board.

Hi Oliver
I see but they do look quite original because when you take them off the holes in the window sills look right for the taps but that's not to say they haven't been modified I suppose. Have they got the heads off your car yet? they seem to be dragging it out a bit, it always seems to be the way you tell them what the problem is & that's always the last thing they look at. I'm having a spot of bother myself the cat's gone on my Volvo & my Rover is just a constant string of disasters it caught fire last Thursday sadly it wasn't destroyed just a minor wiring harness fire oh well better luck next time
