Does anyone have some good advice on how to seal a roof. I replaced the rotten interior a couple of years with the help of a friend who said he knew what he was doing!!!! i replaced the two front corners, back corners, and and interior panelling that was rotten both ends up to halfway along the roof. When the interior was out we had an extremely heavy rain storm and we had no leaks. Hurrah i thought job done. I think he sealed small pinholes in the roof ali with fiber glass. Took the trim off and re sealed them. Not sure what he used!!! Do you think i should reseal the seams with sikaflex and see what happens or am i fighting a loosing battle. I hope not i love her very much. Would appreciate any help and advice as im trying to do this on no budget as i paid my mate to do the job!!!!!1 Emily

to find out if your friend used the right sealant unscrew a part of one of the trims and bend it up enough to scrape some sealant out if its hard dry rubbery its the wrong stuff if its like putty its correct sealant
if you do reseal with sikaflex make sure its 512 they make many different products
Like I said to you this afternoon resealing a caravan is possible but the timber frame must be solid or the seals wont get a tight squeeze on the aluminium

Thanks Henry,
Ill check that out. Ive noticed a few pin prick holes in the roof that have been fibreglassed over and some missed!!!!!. Is it a good idea to use fibreglass or is it not flexible enough? If so what should i use??
Really want to get her water tight. I know the wood around some of the roof lights is rotten. The only bits not touched. whats the best way to attack these?? From the outside or inside??? Im a single mum with two kids and have lived in various caravans and busses etc over the years. Have fallen in love with her and want to keep her. All her woodwork is solid, no wobbles anywhere as far as i am aware and can make out. After my friend not doing a proper job i think i need to do this myself. Always like a challenge.
Thank
