I've been trying to see when the provision of hot water came in for Safaris, and with a few (probably) retro-fitted versions it seems hard to tell. Was it 1978, along with a shower tray? In general caravan-making terms, that seems a couple of years too early ? Incidentally, we used to live midway between Bowbridge and Nailsworth, so have a strong feeling for the Safari's. But we're still looking for a half-decent one to buy !

Our 1979 safari has an original carver mark 1 water heater and shower tray if that helps..? We live halfway between Bowbridge and Nailsworth so understand completely!
Good luck with your search, Neil

I’ve looked at several Safari’s in great detail albeit the bigger ones, and have never found an original factory fitted hot water system on anything older than 1979. My understanding is that Safari only ever fitted the Bowen system (large square door on the side). I’ve only ever seen the Carver ones and other types retro fitted – you can usually tell! The shower trays were usually present on the hot water models as was blown air heating but as with any caravan I’m sure this might not be an exact science. Of course this kind of technology was available on Safari’s and no doubt other high end marques way before the mainstream of brands caught up.
I hope this is helpful...
