Hi,
Does anyone have any advice on any good restoration firms/individuals?
I have a 16' Safari made in late 60's/early 70's that is in need of repair.
The chassis and panels are fine, and there is not too much internal damage to furniture etc. But the interior frame is pretty rotten, especially in the corners, and some way along the sides and roof. Seems as though the structure is held together by the furniture and panels and is not very secure to move.
I do not want to restore to original but would like to bring back to strong and useable condition and would appreciate any advice anyone can give me.
The caravan is currently in Wales.
Many thanks,

Hi, My Safari sounds very much like yours, except she's a12/2 but quite alate one. The 2 front corners have rotted internally it would seem the vinyl covering hiding a multitude of sins! I'm loath to start any work yet because I think its OK 4 local touring.I'm thinking of putting an ad in the local ,scan/trade it paper,4 a retired coachbuilder/cabinet maker to see if they'd be interested in earning some extra money, as I think a proper caravan repair place would probaly try and rip me off, ie just turn out to be to expensive. Maybe I could even do it myself with help from friends who are chippies etc. as long as you take it apart VERY carefully.....is another option?!! I really do think it would be hugely expensive to let it go to a works place ie £25.00 at least an hour. How many hours would it take?! I don't know about yours but mine is definetly to good to break....and besides thats like giving up and I'm determined not to do that!!! After all we've got to try and keep these beautiful caravans on the road as testament to the quality of their manufacture.....look at the stuff about now its all plastic..... yes I know and it does'nt ROT!!!! If you find anybody let me know , and I will do the same best wishes Tony...wanderer5
