I will have to replace some of the frame in my 12/2 (Bear and Donna's old van). Some of the timber above the front window, right hand side (looking forward) has gone soft, as has a short length under the second roof window from the front, same side. I will also need to replace the bottom half of the door. Any advice will be gratefully received.

I replaced the front frame of my Safari and the details are in this thread, including a link to a lot of photos. www.classicsafaris.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tech&action=display&thread=38If you do yours, please take lots of photos and post them on the forum to help others. If it is the inside of the door you need to replace, it is a simple job to do. Just take the door apart and the inside hardboard will slide out. Use it to cut a new piece and slide it back in again.

Brian - Man thanks, this will prove very useful. Didn't we have something similar from another member on the old site? I recall somebody having done some very drastic rebuilding on a Safari. I think I will either have to replace the bottom half of the door or rebuild the frame as I think the damage extends beyond the inner panel. I will provide photographs as I go along - lets hope there isn't a final one of a funeral pyre!!!
