I have just bought an unusual Safari caravan. I was browsing your site to see what I could find about it and there it was, the actual caravan I have bought. It seems nobody knows much about this one. It has a Pearman Briggs plate next to the door which bears the no 6299 11cwt so I am guessing it was made in 62. It has a B and B tow bar serial no 32624 It has 2 doors and there is no horizontal band down the sides or evidence that there ever was. Inside it has a rear end kitchen with a very old hob and a toilet compartment with a drop down shelf. The sides are almost symetrical, with a door followed by a cupboard then a bench on each side of a fixed table/ cabinet in the centre of the front window. The previous owner told me it had been stored in a barn for the last 30 years and it does seem in very good condition although it does need painting . All the joins look very sound. I don't have a huge knowledge of caravans but love the old ones and don't want them to rot away and thought you may be interested to hear about this one so would welcome any comments or advice.

Hi MG and a very warm welcome to the forum. I hoped the new owner of this very rare Safari would end up on the forum. We have already discussed your Safari on here: www.classicsafaris.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sales&action=display&thread=214and agree that you certainly have an unusual one - in fact it is the only one of this type I have ever seen. We had thought that the two door Safari was a myth!! Want we all want to see now is pictures, and then more pictures! In exchange we are happy to share expertise and experiences of restoring and maintaining these fantastic caravans.

Yes Safari did make 2door caravans there were 2 models one had 2 doors at the back and one with 1door in the front and 1 at the back the one with 2 doors at the back did tend to crack above the doors hence the were discontinued if your is 2doors at the back it is a 13/2 or 12/2 they did not have flashes in that year

Sorry. I have tried and tried to put photos on here and despite reading your instructions I can't fathom out how to do it. I have managed to get as far as putting them on photobucket. I have tried copying but then am unable to paste in the reply to the thread. I cant see a URL thing under the photos. Sadly, I give up.

MG
If you post the photobucket album url on here, we can look at the photos and perhaps even post them here for you.
