Good to see the group moving to a new home rather than falling by the wayside.
Im Mick a 34yr old RAF vehicle engineer (used to be called a mechanic but not as fashionable now) more management and paperwork than spanners these days.
I have been involved in caravans from a very young age there are photos somewhere of me having a bath in an orange washing up bowl beside a Mk2 Cortina and Thomson Glenelg from around 1976 Im still hunting them down to destroy ;D
I have had my own caravans since I was 20 and have headed backwards rather than forwards with both cars and caravans, at one point I had a 1994 Landrover and a 1994 Lunar caravan aswell as a 1966 Landrover and a 1966 Safari caravan (No. 669). Now I am more into Classic cars, bikes and Caravans, anything old or different really.
Loads of things have changed recently, house move, divorce, money etc but still have the '66 Safari, a tatty but solid 13/2 Not ideal as I need a 4 berth but neither myself or fiance want to change it.
I found the Safari being used as a temporary bedroom along with a few other old 'vans at a local gliding club, well overgrown and scruffy. I decided I wanted an old caravan was looking for a Thomson as I used to go away in one as a child but found a Safari which looks far better even in the poor state it is in now. It is being worked on slowly and will be sorted soon all being well. I posted on the old MSN Group about it being painted soon, 2 years on its still the same apart from most of the old brush paint has been removed and I have found some enthusiasm to get on with it.
I have an older car to tow it too, not quite as old as the Safari but a tidy original MK1 Cavalier dating from 1978, the same car and colour as my Dad had when I was younger, he also had a 2 door Mk1 Escort but I would need a mortgage to get one like he had now! Photo below is of how it is now, part stripped and pretending to be hitched up (dont have a towbar on the Cavalier yet :
