we have a safari 12/2 with a bit of a problem... rot. a lot of it. affecting the front around the windows and also around the top windows on one side. back is fine-ish. has anyone ever bothered to replace bits of the frame and can tell me what material to use, and is there maybe someone in west wales who knows how to do this properly? any help and tips appreciated... thanks megatotz

Megatotz Welcome to the forum. I rebuilt the front of my Safari and have given full details of the work in this message classicsafaris.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tech&action=display&thread=38 There is also a link to the pictures I took at the time. I used mahogany, which is a bit heavier than the original timber, but has better water resistance. There are very few classic caravan repairers anywhere, but a small local modern caravan repairer was very helpful with my rebuild, and I think would have liked to do the job himself. So you could look for one local to yourself. Please let us know what you decide and I am sure that if you need help and advice on any specific areas, just post on here and we will do our best to help.

thanks for the link, looks like a bit of a project... well done though, my compliments. i still haven't got round to taking pictures yet, the extend of the problem is similar to yours. i also have to deal with the little side windows in the roof as well. all these round bits of wood...! a bit daunting. i'll try to post some pictures in a while. megatotz
