I keep a Register of all surviving Safaris and need to obtain serial numbers of every Safari we come across.
Please email me at Register@ClassicSafaris.co.uk. with any numbers you come across.
I keep a private record of the source of the information and current owners, but owners names will not be passed onto anyone without their express permission.

Hi Brian and other members, We are still happily using our 1963 12/4 serial number 63381. After two trips this summer, it is now having it's stabilisers refurbished. Regards to all, Mark and Breda Attachments:

Welcome to the Group Pat, I have had a quick look to see if I can find the previous owner of 6553, but wil have to do some more digging.
As you can see you are the owner of one of the oldest Safaris in the group.

Hello Brian and fellow forum members,
Been quite a while since i was last on here, last time i was just on my way to North Wales to pick up the new van. So better late than never........ 17/2 serial number 78103.
I am also trying to locate other Safaris that are owned by fellow travellers, it is possible that i may have access to this information more than most as i live in my van and work on the festival circuit. I shall endevour to find as many as possible and fill the list out some more. I do have a friend in the Midlands near Rugby who has a Safari in his Uncles garden, will pass on info as i get it..........

Hello Brian, I have been and checked on the 17/4 and the serial number for my 17/4 is 79081 and the chassis number is 283879 so another that was not on the list hope this can be added to the list. the 17/4 is in immaculate condition and the previous owners loved it dearly from new.

Hi Brian
Our 17/4 serial number is 800039, the chassis number is 308960.
We were given a whole bundle of leaflets and booklets for the things in the van (the fridge, ducted heating, the water heater etc) there's also a booklet (minus font cover, which assume is the handbook - it has the wiring plan and details about how to clean the van and the upholstery and what/how the v has been built. I can send you a copy if you like, if you don't have one and you think it might be useful.
Thanks, Kelly

Rod
Are you sure that is the right number?
It would indicate the 802nd Safari built in 1979, and I don't think they could have made that many in 12 months.

Hi Brian, We have just purchased our Safari, its a 17-4 model, 1975, Serial number is 75093. it's had 2 previous owners, we towed it back from Louth in Lincolnshire on Sunday, back to Brierley Hill in the West Midlands. We used our 2008 Vauxhall Zafira, 1.9 cdti engine...hoping this will tow it when we use it. We did all the calculations and it stacked up Ok weight wise....but the more we read, the more its a case of we'll see how we go....especially as some of your members say its one of the heaviest models. Anyway she's an absolute beaut, we've called her Mable...even got the original glasses in the bar, I'll post some photo's soon on the site. Thanks Dave and Gill Tomkins.....we're so excited.

Just thought you might want to add my 1964, Safari to your list Brian 64601. it was a 12/4 but has sometime in its life been converted to a 2 berth. See swampthings 64 Safari for photos taken when we first got it home. Nich

Hi Brian Just seen your list of serial numbers thought I would add mine 15/4 81156. I have had this van since 2009 and still in brilliant condition. The only modification it has is the combined electric/ gas heater, the hot water system and a combined gas and electric fridge. Hopefully will keep this for many more years. Martin
