Hi everybody I'm back after about a year on the missing list, I sort of lost my legendary enthusiasm & also never migrated to the new group when it started.
Just to put people in the picture who dont know me my name is Colin & I specialise in the repair, installation & calibration of tachographs in commercial vehicles & PSVs.
I am heavily into the classic vehicle scene & bought my first Safari back in 2004 simply as a means of getting a good night's sleep at vintage rallies as I had previously been using my tent & was getting sick of it.
I decided that my caravan needed to be a bit old fashioned to match my vehicles & I saw a Safari at a show & my mind was made up so then began the search. I had a limited budget & set myself a target of £350. One day I was down near Doncaster with my mate who was going to buy an old wagon & on the bloke's drive was a 1979 12/2 (green stripe) with for sale in the window but it was already sold. I contacted the buyer & he agreed to sell & asked £450 for it so I asked was this flexible & we agreed on £350 BINGO!
I got the seats re-done & new curtains made & generally sorted it out & have had some good use out of it since though it could do with some woodwork & a new lower panel on the O/S
Then in January 2007 I got a 1978 17/2 (gold stripe) from Oliver Shaw which was complete but in need of some quite major woodwork restoration. This was subsequently stolen Easter 07 but returned in September 07 when it was spotted for sale on Ebay.
I am currently restoring 2 of my cars so once they are finished the caravan restoration will commence.
Regards Colin
