I learned last night of the sad death of Mike last May.
Sylvester was one of the longest and most active members of the old MSN Group.
Many of us have enjoyed banter and gentlemanly arguments with him on the forum over the years, and some of us met him at the 2006 meeting. He will be sorely missed.
His wife, Vivien, still has his two Safaris and intends to continue using one of them for touring, having never towed before, she has taken a Caravan Club course, but still has to venture onto the public highway. She will be joining this forum shortly.

Hi Brian
I am sorry to learn of Mike's demise, whilst we did not always see eye to eye, difference of opinion is a necessary commodity in a forum.
Are you certain of the date, as he posted a couple of messages on the MSN board, under 2009 Rally on August 13 and 15.
Regards

Colin
This was the date given to me by Vivien, so to me the posts are a bit of a mystery

I am also very sorry to learn of the news. Like several others, I corresponded with Mike on a number of occasions, via the forum and otherwise, and I met him once when I needed to replace some aluminium side mouldings.
They lived not desperately far from me, so if I can be of any assistance to Vivien when she returns to caravanning - perhaps riding passenger with her the first time she ventures onto the road, just to give her confidence - I will certainly do what I can.
Regards,
Oliver
