Full manufacturer's published specifications for all 1970, 1973 and 1980 models are contained in the appropriate sales documents folders, which can be found on this site as graphics files in the Pictures section (since I wasn't able to load them into the Documents section).
The weight does depend slightly on the year. The 14-2 didn't come in until after 1970, my guess is somewhere around 1972. It seems that there may have been a subsequent small weight increase, followed by a slight weight reduction for 1980.
The 1980 Sales Brochure lists the maximum gross mass as 1009 kg. The 1973 Sales brochure lists it as what appears to be 20 cwt, which is as near as makes no matter the same, although reading that figure is about on the limit of the pixellation.
The data for the 1978 model range is in my caravan, and I can retrieve that later if you need it, but off the top of my head I would guess at around 1020 - 1050 kg.
One's attitude to those figures depends slightly on where one is coming from; my late parents always thought that their 14-2s were moderately heavy 'vans, particularly when towing, although they were delighted with both of them.
By contrast, towing with a very similar car (Volvo 240 estate in both cases), and arguably slightly a less able version because of its automatic transmission (despite an increase in engine size from 2.1 to 2.3 litres), I was used to towing my 17-2 and was always very conscious what a comparative lightweight I found their 14-2!
Hope this helps,
Oliver

The 1978 figure is 1100 kg.
Thus maximum gross mass varies rather more than I had thought according to the year:
1973 1000 kg approx. (1018 by 2 s.f. conversion from 20 cwt, then rounded to 2 s.f.)
1978 1100 kg
1980 1009 kg
1981/2 Possibly different again; no data to hand
The difference between 1978 and both the earlier and later ones is quite large.
Another variable to throw into the discussion; working entirely from memory, I think that the late model (1981/2) 14-2 has a radically different type and layout of chassis from the 1980 17-2. I have never had any dealings with 14-2s earlier than 1981, but I would expect that in any one year the chassis design would be broadly similaar across the model range, and if I am right then it seems that a major redesign of the chassis was brought in for 1981.
That might well mean that the 1981 figure is different again. I will try to check on this; my brother now owns the family's 1981 14-2, so if he has the correct Handbook for the year we can find out. However I think it possible that he may not have the Handbook.
Unfortunately the caravan lost its identification plate when Harringtons replaced the nearside lower panel; they omitted to replace the ID plate and simply handed it to me when we collected it, and to my shame I have to confess that although I fully intended to replace it I never never actually got round to it. There is a remote possibility that it may be still in my garage, awaiting replacement, which gives another line of enquiry, but if so it will be somewhere on the 8 ft by 3 ft storage shelf at the far end, underneath all the stored caravan kit and boat kit ... ...

Thank you for your informative reply, my reason for asking was because I am looking at one and wondered what sort of weight I'd be pulling if I got it. As far as I know it is a 70s version so you seemed to have covered most of the answers I think.
If I get it (fingers crossed ) I can see I'll be spending much time on here asking for advice - I am aware that this particular Safari needs restoration so it will give me plenty to do for a while.
Can someone give me some idea of the weight of a 14/2 please
