Hi my name is Colin I'm a new member I have owned my safari for about 4 years now it is a 12/2 with green flashes & window cappings I believe it to be a 1976 model though am not sure. It is by no means perfect but it does the job well. When I bought it the interior was a bit shabby so I had the seats reupholstered & new curtains made, we had to do a little bit of woodwork due to damp & that's about it. I am currently trying to locate a replacement lens for the awning light or failing that a complete lamp does anybody have such a thing? I will try to post a couple of photos aswell
Regards Colin

The new photos are great - you must have the only towing vehicle that makes a Safari look small.
For those of us with an interest in all classics could you tell us more about it.

Hi Brian
Yes it does seem to make the caravan shrink a bit. It's a 1969 BMC 900FG which was the heaviest version of the FG series the G.V.W. being just over 9 tonnes & fitted with a 5.1 6cyl. diesel. If you study the cab you will find it is the same as the famous Sunblest bread vans which were once so popular the main difference being the snout on the front which was added to accomodate the larger engine. It actually belongs to a mate of mine who emigrated to Cyprus & was unable to take it out there so basically he said I should use it & look after it as if it was mine. He bought it in about 2001/2002 in a sorry state & restored it to a working vehicle condition & we have rallied it regularly ever since. Unfortunatley on my way to Wakefield recently the engine went bang so it's out of commission at the minute
