DATES
29 May to 1 June 2014
OUTLINE
A four day meeting of over 100 pre-1982 Classic caravans from Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Sweden and GB. Organised excursions, gala dinner on the Saturday. Exact cost to be confirmed, but in the region of 100-120 Euros, for pitch with electric, dinner and administration. Organised by the Belgium Oldtimer Caravan Club www.bocc.be
LOCATION
Goolderheide Vakantiepark, B-3950 Bocholt Belgium
DESCRIPTION
Since 1996 the European Classic Caravan Clubs organize an annual rally in a different Country. I have been to nine of the last eleven ECCR meetings, some have only been 70 miles from Calais but in 2011 I did 2300 miles when the event was held in Sweden. I have been appointed the "Official" UK representative for the ECCR organisation.
Every year I try to encourage more British classic caravanners to attend. In some years there have only been two outfits with GB plates and in other years as many as 10. You do not have to tow with a classic car, although many of us do. I am happy to provide advice and assistance to anyone wanting to go this year from the UK. Perhaps even leading a convoy from Calais/Dunkerque on the Thursday for those of you who have not driven in mainland Europe before.
The program for the event is:
THURSDAY – Arrive and reception in the evening
FRIDAY – Local Excursion
SATURDAY – Caravan “Open Door” and Boot Sale. Modern Towcars to be moved to main car park. EVENING – Dinner Dance and Presentations
SUNDAY – Farewells and departure.
Bocholt is only 170-200 miles from Calais/Dunkerque, easily drivable on the Thursday. To keep my costs to a minimum, I will travel Dover/Dunkerque on late Wednesday evening sailing, have a few hours sleep close to Dunkerque, and then do the four hour drive to Bocholt arriving mid afternoon.
You can arrive earlier and leave later than the core dates of the event, but any additional nights are chargeable.
I am trying to encourage UK owners of all types of classic caravan to attend but I would of course be especially happy if we had a number of Safaris from the UK to join the Safari's from Holland, Belgium and Sweden that have attended in previous years.
The estimated cost for three nights pitch, including electrical hook-up, the dinner dance, and reception is 100 Euros for one person or 125 Euros for two adults and children, and 20 euros for additional nights. Ferry costs will be around £100-£150 depending on the time of your crossing.
If you want further information or be part of a group booking either post in this thread or email me on Brian@ClassicSafariCaravans.co.uk
